Murray State Selection

This year, four Wesclin High School members were selected for the Murray Quad State Festival. The students selected were Ashley Huegen, Erin Woods, Shane Wittenbrink, Henry Kvistad, and Trevor Korte. In order to be considered for selection, those interested had to ask Mr. Washburn for a letter of recommendation. From there, Murray State chose the best fit members from the band. The students headed to the festival on Thursday February 20th.“I am excited for the experience and meeting people from other areas, and I am hoping to make second tier band,” said Ashley Huegen. Upon arrival, they auditioned for one of the four bands with the music they brought. After students were grouped into one of the bands, bottom white, middle gold/blue, and top symphonic they received their music. They practiced Thursday night, all day Friday, and performed Saturday. Over 400 students from schools in surrounding states participated.The students also got to hear performances by the Murray State Jazz Orchestra, Symphonic Band, and Wind Ensemble.
