Our food service company, Sodexo, is hosting a cooking competition for Wesclin's 3rd, 4th, and 5th graders.  If your child is interested, please help them submit a recipe by February 27th.  Guidelines for the competition are below.  Recipes can be submitted online by scanning the QR code on the flyer.  After February 27th, all of the recipes will be carefully evaluated.  Selected finalist students will be selected to participate in the competition on Thursday, March 26th from 5:30 - 7:30 pm.  These students will cook their dish "live" that night and serve tastings to a panel of judges.  We have had this event a few times over the years and it is so fun!  Finalists who are invited to participate in the competition will all receive some goodies.  Each finalist will have a kitchen staff member assigned to help them the night of the event to ensure everyone's success and safety.  The winning finalist from our event will then be entered to win a national competition.  More details will follow for this finalist.

Judging will be based on the following criteria:

  • Ease of Preparation

  • Healthy Attributes

Snow Days/Remote Learning:

As winter weather approaches, we wanted to remind you of the Snow Day and Remote Learning Plan that was adopted for this school year.  The first 3 emergency days will be used as traditional snow days.  If three snow days are used, the next 5 emergency days will be used as Remote Learning days.  During Remote Learning days, please remember the following:

  1. Complete the correct packet that was sent home in your Remote Learning folder earlier in the year.  Turn this packet in when school returns to in-session learning.  Students that do not complete the packet, will be counted absent for the Remote Learning day.

  2. If you cannot locate your Remote Learning packets, an electronic copy will be posted in your 5th Grade Snow Day Classroom.

  3. Teachers will be available live, online in the Google Meet link from 9:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m. and from 12:30 p.m. - 1:30 p.m.  It is not mandatory to join the video.  However, if you have questions, feel free to log in.  If you need assistance outside of the live video streaming hours, feel free to email the appropriate teacher during regular school hours.

If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to any of the teachers.
