Wesclin WYSE team has a big win at Regionals

Wesclin High School’s WYSE team competed at Kaskaskia College on Thursday, February 8th. The team of eighteen students placed second at the Regional Competition. Wesclin competed in Division 700 against Bond County, Breese Central, Carlyle, Mater Dei, Nashville, and Vandalia. Nashville came in first place, but Wesclin was right behind with a second place win. Individual medals were won by Wesclin teammates Collin Henderson-1st in English, Daniel Geiler- 1st in Drafting, Owen Henderson- 2nd in English and 3rd in Chemistry, Ethan Boulanger- 3rd in Math and 3rd in Physics, Nate Brede- 3rd in Drafting, and Cameron Johnson- 3rd in Physics. Junior Owen Henderson also won a 12-hour scholarship for Kaskaskia College for having the best overall combined score of the day, and when asked about advancing to sectionals he said, “I am hoping for another win like last year, and I think we can do even better than before.” The WYSE team will next compete at sectionals at Mckendree on March 12th.
