WESCLIN HIGH SCHOOL SCHOLARSHIP UPDATE

This is a list of scholarships that are being awarded to Wesclin seniors for the 2020-2021 school year. It will be updated as new scholarship information is sent to Mrs. Hanke throughout the year. Please check announcements in teacherease and email for the scholarship applications. 

B. Davis Scholarship

The Davis Foundation Scholarship will award one $1,000 scholarship. This scholarship is available to all high school juniors and seniors as well as all students currently registered in any post secondary institution. The application deadline is May 22, 2021.

  

 CBAI Foundation for Community Banking Scholarship Foundation

The CBAI Scholarship Foundation will award one $1,000 scholarship. This scholarship is available to all Illinois High School Seniors. The essay and application deadline is March 3,2021.

  

The Illinois Chemical Education Foundation

The Illinois Chemical Education Foundation is offering three scholarships to high school seniors seeking degrees in chemistry, chemical engineering, environmental engineering or high school chemistry teaching. The application deadline is Wednesday, February 24, 2021. The application should be postmarked no later than February 19, 2021.

 

The City of Highland Employees Scholarship

The City of Highland is offering two scholarships to students that are a child or grandchild of a current or retired employee of the city of Highland.One scholarship is for students pursuing a college degree. The other is for students studying at a trade school. You will turn the applications into Mrs.Hanke. The deadline is April 1st. 

 

 The Illinois Society of Professional Engineers

The Illinois Society of Professional Engineers is offering scholarships in the amount of $1,500. The applicants must attend an engineering program at an Illinois or Missouri university or college that is ABET-accredited. The application, letters of recommendation and transcript must be postmarked and submitted by March 15,2021. 

 

 

Associated General Contractors of Missouri Construction Industry Scholarship

The AGCMO Education Foundation Scholarships are awarded to students entering the construction industry or a related field, such as engineering (civil, mechanical, etc.) or architecture. The information page provides more details on the qualifications for application and how to submit the application with the required additional information. Last year a total of $58,000 was divided between 28 students in $1000, $2000, or $3000 amounts.

 

Thomas H. Moore IEC Scholarship & the LaVern & Nola McEntire Lineworker’s Scholarship

The Thomas H. Moore program offers eleven (11) academic scholarships and one (1) LaVern & Nola McEntire Lineworker’s Scholarship.

 

Please note the deadline for the eleven (11) Thomas H. Moore Scholarships is December 31, 2020 and the one (1) LaVern & Nola McEntire Lineworker’s Scholarship is April 30, 2021.  Applications and computerized fill-in-the-blank copies can be downloaded from at https://aiec.coop/iec-scholarship/

 

Farm Credit Illinois

Farm Credit Illinois annually recognizes two students as Diversity in Agriculture Scholars. This scholarship will be awarded to seniors planning to study the following in college: Agriculture, Food Systems and Natural Resources. 

Recipients will receive $1,000 in 2021 Fall and $1,000 in 2023 Fall Semester. The link for the application is www.farmcreditIL.com/scholarship. The deadline is March 12,2021. 

 

Elks Therapy Scholarship 

The Illinois Elks Association will be awarding scholarships to high school seniors that are planning to major in physical and occupational therapy and physical therapy assistant. The link for the application is www.illinoiselksccc.org. The deadline for this scholarship is March 5,2021. 


 

Trenton Chamber of Commerce

Trenton Chamber of Commerce is offering two $500 scholarships for high school seniors. Applicants must have a Trenton mailing address, have maintained a grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale during their high school career (transcript is required) and plan to attend either a four year college or community college to pursue a degree. 


 

Beta Sigma Psi Christian Leadership Scholarship

The Alumni Chapter is offering a $3,000 scholarship given out to a Christian male freshman attending the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in Fall 2021. There is no obligation to join Beta Sigma Psi or be related to a member of the fraternity to receive this award. Runner-ups may be eligible for $500. Our scholarship application may be found online at https://forms.gle/pJdPAff57oZHokDT9 or the attached application can be filled out and submitted to our PO box. All applications are due March 20th, 2021.

 

 

Illinois Odd Fellow-Rebekah Scholarship Award

Illinois Odd Fellow - Rebekah Scholarship Award Available for all majors in college or trade school. Agricultural related majors get separate consideration. Use the same application, just discuss the agricultural related goals in the student essay. Based on student essay, letters of recommendation, academics and need.

The Rotary International District 6510 Scholarship

The Rotary International District 6510 Scholarship will fund two scholarships to an accredited College or Trade School. Awards will be $2,500.00 each. Winners will be presented at the High School Senior event where Scholarships are awarded. Recipients will agree to have their awards publicized throughout Rotary International District 6510. 

Eligibility Each applicant must meet the following criteria: 

• High School Senior 

• Reside in Rotary District 6510 

• Academics at B average or better; include a copy of most current transcript including fall grades 

• Résumé of School Involvement – Service, Clubs, Athletics, etc.; cite leadership roles (officer, chair, section leader, awards, etc.) 

• Résumé of Community Involvement and Volunteerism; cite leadership roles as above and part-time jobs 

• Educational and Career Plan 

• An essay about how the Rotary Motto “Service Above Self” affects, has affected, or will affect your life in the future (400-word limit). Conditions for Receiving Funds • Student must provide proof of full-time enrollment (Tuition bill, Registration form, with official logos) 

• Upon proof of enrollment, money will be paid to the college or university; students must submit tuition bill for fall to receive checks.

New Baden Chamber of Commerce Scholarship

In order to be eligible, you must:

Have graduated High School by the end of the 2020/2021 term.

Have a received or will be receiving a diploma from Wesclin, Mater Dei or Mascoutah.

 Have a New Baden or New Memphis address, Zip Codes: 62265 or 62266

Provide a written essay (200-250 words) to the committee stating:

1.  The reasons you want to attend college.

2.  Why you want or need the scholarship.

3.  Financial needs associated with your application.

4.  How you will apply your degree to our community.

5.  DO NOT use the names of you, your parents or your siblings within the essay.

Provide a list of the college(s) or vocational school(s) where you have applied for or been accepted for admission during the upcoming academic year.

HOW TO APPLY

Submit the above information to your Guidance Counselor NO LATER THAN April 1st 2021.  The Guidance Counselor will assign your application a number.  Write that number on all pages of your essay.  Return all documents Guidance Counselor for submission us with only that number to identify your application.
