Parents As Teachers

Mission Statement

The mission of the Wesclin Parents as Teachers Program is to provide the
information, support and encouragement parents need to help their children
develop optimally during the crucial early years of life.

 

Parents as Teachers is a state funded program for families who are pregnant, or for those who have a child or children between the ages of 0 and 5. Case management services are available for qualifying families who live within the Wesclin School District. Families are continually being recruited, screened for eligibility and accepted for participation in the program. Services are offered to the family free of charge.

*toy, book, puzzle, DVD and parent resource lending libraries


Program Goals

*Empower parents to give their children the best possible start in life
*Encourage parents to be their children's first and most influential teachers
*Provide children a solid foundation for school and life success
*Increase parent knowledge of child development and appropriate ways to stimulate their children's intellectual, language, social, and physical developments 
*Enhance parent-child interaction and strengthen family relationships
*Prevent child abuse and neglect
*Provide for early detection of developmental problems

*Develop strong partnerships between parents and schools
