WESCLIN HOMECOMING WEEK ACTIVITIES

By:Caitlyn Picard

Wesclin High School will begin its Homecoming Week activities on Monday, September 26th, with spirit week. This year’s homecoming theme is Hollywood.

The community is invited to the Homecoming parade which will be held on Wednesday, September 28th, at 5:30 p.m. in New Baden. The parade will feature classes and organizations from Wesclin as well as the Homecoming Court and Marching Band. It will begin on South Railway and travel down East Hanover and finish at the park.

At 6:30 p.m. immediately following the parade, the Wesclin Athletic Boosters will hold a CHILI DINNER at the high school cafeteria. Cost is a donation basis and everyone from the community is invited to attend.

On the same evening at 7:00 p.m. there will be a junior vs. senior guys Power Volleyball Game in the high school gym and at 7:45 p.m. a junior vs. senior girls Powderpuff Football Game on the football field. The bonfire will be held at the school beginning at approximately 8:30 p.m. following the Powderpuff football and volleyball games.

The week will culminate with the Homecoming football game at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, September 30th, vs. Carlyle High School.  The court will be introduced at 6:30 p.m. prior to the game and the Wesclin High School Marching Band will perform at halftime.

The public is invited to the coronation ceremony that will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 1st. Cost is $5 for the coronation ceremony and $10 for both the coronation and dance. Students will enjoy the Homecoming Dance from 8-10 p.m.

“It is going to be an exciting week! We hope everyone in the community comes out to support and participate in the festivities,” said Student Council President, Ethan Christopher. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Kellie Kunz at Wesclin High School during the school day at 224-7341 ext. 5301.
