Cheer Heading to State to Compete

February 23, 2018

Wesclin cheer team attends state competition

By: Alyssa Faulkner

Wesclin’s cheer team made the trip up to Springfield, Illinois to attend one out of two of their state competitions on January 6th.  Because of the success the team had over the weekend, the team qualified for the IHSA state competition which will be held at the end of January. Wesclin, as a full team, placed 7th with their routine out of 8 teams in their division that qualified. On top of that, Wesclin’s co-ed stunt group consisting of seniors, Deanna Ryan and Kyle Ciborowski, and junior Shelby Weihe, placed 2nd out of only 3 co-ed stunt groups at the competition. The team is ecstatic about these results. Senior Kyle Ciborowski, said “I’m really proud of our team for dealing with injuries and adversity, but still qualifying for IHSA state. I look forward to seeing what our team can do now that we’re healthy.” The Wesclin cheer team’s future is bright as they’re headed to IHSA state as a healthy and excited group.
