Mr. Burcham's Class

March 18, 2019

Busy week for Mr. Burcham’s students

Written by: Kendra Kelly

On March 10, Wesclin students competed at the Regional Drafting Competition at Kaskaskia College. Wesclin had a very successful competition, with awards won by Brady Kuhl, Isabelle Marsh, Kam Monical, Cameron Brandmeyer, Philip Berberich, Devon Kahrhoff, Stacy Gregory, Madison Middleton, Haileigh Gilley, Will Adcock, Nate Brede, Dan Geiler, Dean Travous, Alex Elsing, Abby Oster, and Dylan Flowers. Dylan Flowers, who placed second in architectural board drafting, and Daniel Geiler, who placed second in assembly 3D modeling,  advanced to the state competition. Mr. Burcham’s Millworking class has also proven to be very busy building picture frames. The class used a shaper to make a raised panel door, such as the ones seen in kitchen cabinets. Zach Missey, a junior, made a special adaptation to his piece by inserting a piece of mirror donated by St. Jacob Glass into his frame. To make the piece even more impressive, he used a machine known as a cricket, to make a design in this mirror. Zach Missey said, “ It was nice to watch my hard work pay off”.
