NHS Induction Ceremony

October 28, 2016

By: Shianne Mitchell

Wesclin National Honor Society welcomed 37 new members and 25 returning seniors on Wednesday, October 26th. This has been one of the biggest numbers of NHS in many years. The induction was held in the high school cafeteria; it explained character, leadership, and about scholarships and services. NHS is available to juniors and seniors who have had a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher throughout their high school career. An application is filled out and then a selection is made as to whether or not you get into NHS. In previous years NHS has hosted a blood drive at the school, volunteered at Special Olympics for basketball and football, and more. On Saturday October 29th at 3pm, NHS is volunteering at the 12th annual New Baden Chili Cook Off held in the New Baden Park. Additionally, in December of this year, a senior citizen luncheon and many other events will take place. Mrs. Block, the sponsor of NHS said, “NHS is more than just the smart kids at school, it’s the ones who give their utmost time and give back to their community.” National Honor Society at Wesclin Senior High School is growing bigger and giving back even more.
