WESCLIN HIGH SCHOOL GUIDANCE UPDATE

11/20/18

 

Scholarship Update:

Thomas H. Moore Illinois Electric Cooperative Memorial Scholarship Program

- 6 scholarships are awarded to students who are the sons/daughters of an IL electric cooperative member receiving service from the cooperative (application deadline is December 31, 2018).

-4 scholarships are reserved for students enrolling full-time at a two-year Illinois community college who are the sons/daughters of Illinois electric cooperative members, employees, or directors (application deadline is December 31, 2018).

-1 scholarship, the Earl W. Struck Memorial Scholarship, is awarded to a student who is the son/daughter of an electric cooperative employee or director (application deadline is December 31, 2018).

-1 scholarship, the LaVern and Nola McEntire Lineworker’s Scholarship, is awarded to a student to attend the lineworker’s school conducted by the Association of Illinois Electric Cooperatives in conjunction with Lincoln Land Community College, Springfield, IL (application deadline is April 30, 2019).

Aviston Sons of the American Legion 2019 Black Tie and Talent Show

-Over $8,000 in scholarships will be awarded to eight contestants.

-The talent show will be held January 12, 2019 at the Hidden Lake Winery.  Interested contestants can tryout at a downselect competition at the Aviston Legion on December 21st

-To enter the competition call Jim Kues at 228-7008 or Craig Timmermann at 830-7737.

 

TEACH Outdoors, Inc. Scholarship

-$500 award

-Applicants must submit an essay describing a memorable outdoor experience with a tradition or lesson that was passed on to the applicant in which the applicant will pass on to future generations.

-The applicant must have a 3.0 cumulative GPA.

-The application deadline is January 1, 2019.  See Mrs. Fisher for an application.

 

Joyce Betz Memorial Scholarship

-$1,000 award

-Applicants must submit an essay describing what a mentor means to the applicant and how they will continue to mentor others throughout their life.

-Applicants must have a 3.0 cumulative GPA and be a 4-H member.

-The application deadline is January 1, 2019.  See Mrs. Fisher for an application.
